The iconic Wankel-powered Mazda RX7 was produced from 1978 to 2002 with a total of 811,634 vehicles rolling off the production line in Hiroshima. The front-engine, rear-wheel-drive, two-seat configuration made the RX7 a perfect drift and track car.

Here at PB Brakes, we offer a wide selection of front and rear brake kits for both the FC and FD generations. Our front kits start at 304mm 4-pots, and the rears from 330mm 4-pot. The most popular combination with our customers is the front 356x32mm 8-pot and rear 330x28mm 6-pot, which normally requires a minmum wheel size of 18". We have calculated the OEM brake bias on the RX7 FD to be 68% front and 32% rear or a ratio of 2.08. The bias of our F356+8 / F330+6 combo also perfectly matches the stock brakes with a ratio of 2.09, and increases brake torque by a respectable 71% with street compound pads, or a massive 120% with sport pads!

If you are constrained to 17" wheels, the best option we have is a front 345x32mm big 6-pot and rear 330x28mm 6-pot combination. This bias on this setup is slightly more rear-heavy than the 18" option, but still well within acceptable limits at 67% front, 33% rear, or a ratio of 2.01. However, it should be noted that not every 17" wheel allows enough clearance for 345x32mm discs, so it's worth requesting a fitment template from us to confirm this before ordering.

If your 17" wheels don't allow enough clearance for 345mm discs, we also have a front 330x32mm medium 6-pot and rear 330x28mm 4-pot system with a bias of 65% front, 35% rear, or a ratio of 1.90. The increase in brake torque when using pads with the same coefficient of friction as OEM pads is 36%, but with sport compound pads this increases to 76%.

As with all of our rear brake kits, the OEM handbrake will function as normal. In the case of the Mazda RX7, we provide our patented line lock system which hooks up to the OEM handbrake cable and allows the rear calipers to act as spot calipers when the handbrake is applied. Please note that we can only sell this system as part of a full rear brake kit. We don't sell it separately.
